A New Day

darkness covers
the landscape
and all
that one
can see
are the
shadows that
are cast
by the light
of the moon
 one can see
the stars
that fill
the night sky
if you look
to the east
you might
begin to see
the faintest
hint of crimson
red the colour
of blood
outlining the horizon
all is still
silence reign
is almost over
the darkness
begins to fade
as the red hues
play and dance
a rainbow
of reds and pinks
are splashed
across the sky
as they announce
the dawning
of the new day
with hope
of promise
for the ones
who are awake
and for those
who still lay
in deep slumber
under their covers
in the land of dreams
little critters
begin their day
and the birds
chirp their songs
in a celebration
as a new day
has begun
for all
who are living
in this moment.

I'm just having a quick read through Collectives while I can Cara, as I have guests coming for dinner tonight -
and all I can say is damn! I wish I'd wrote this one! You've captured the dawning of a new day perfectly here!
I prefer the revised version, though, as I think it flows much better.
Powerful imagery too - and I love the use of colours here.
