She went jogging around twilight. She didn’t have to see him, she could feel him. She felt like she was being electrified. It felt painfully sweet.

Then she heard him, a sheer whisper, “Lil” … then she felt his arms around her. She knew she was okay, he was here. No longer alone, but with her beloved.

They didn’t have to speak, the embrace, kiss, long and sweet. Oh how she dreamt of this moment. She missed his nearness, his touch.

She whispered his name, “Tom”…but it was lost in a kiss. A violent meeting of their lips. She felt it through every part of her being. When it was all over, she knew he had left something with her, to remember him by.

When she found her voice, she asked, “Will you stay, or are you leaving again?”

He’s response was slow in coming, “I have another mission I have to make. When it is over, I shall return. It is a dangerous one, one that I may not come back from. Forgive me Lil, I had to come back to tell you that I loved you and Tommy. I had to see you again. The guys didn’t want me to, but I had to, to feel at peace. I love you so.”

Then he was gone, as quickly as he came he went. That’s what made him so good, he was a silent stalker, a deadly force. That’s why she loved him so, he was a gentle, but dangerous man. He could snap a man in half like a twig. But he left and they never saw him again.

The End.

Re:Beginning of a Better Time...part three ...come and gone

What an interesting interlude you gave us, Maria, I have often wondered how one comes to terms with the contrast between what a man is like as a gentle lover yet, as ferocious as an angry bear on his missions of work ... would eventually, one side only of his nature prevail?

I'm guessing Tom's conflict had come to a head and this was his only solution, well done, Zy x

Thanks Zy for your read and review. "Man who lives by the sword, dies by the sword"...It could be a story with happiness ever after, but I wanted to use reality. The work Tom did was dangerous...deadly. Yet he chanced getting married have a son and then leaving her with child...but then I shouldn't go on. It would be a never ending story. Thanks for the great review and applause.

Maria this wasn't quite the ending I was expecting.
A little bit like the cowboy rode off into the sunset and because the sun was in his eyes he didn't see the edge of the canyon and rode right off the edge...aaahhhh.
But yes I do agree with you, you had to bring it to a close otherwise it could have become a never ending story.
But never the less I have enjoyed your tale...Tony (potleek)

Thank you Tony, so glad you agree. I will try to write another story that doesn't ask for "more." <smile>
