35 Mind Blowing Watercolor Paintings By Steve Hanks

I remember Grandma Min
Who made a quilt for me
When I was a child
She loved me unconditionally
I used it all the time
When she was alive
It made her smile
I was her favorite I knew it then
Now she is gone
I feel the pain
Miss the touch of skin
Kin we were
No other were like we
Grandma Min and me.

Oh, Maria, I read this one yesterday and it gave me the same feelings of nostalgia, the want of a time past. I only met my Nana when I was 4 and when my father died and then she died when I was 6 yrs old but her memory and times spent in her veg garden and her kitchen watching her cook (during a time of 'war' rationing) are as vivid as if they were yesterday.

Loved this write and doesn't Tom Hanks always give one something special from his paint brush, that patchwork quilt is phanominal!!!

Maria just lately I've read some old family documents and in re-reading had missed so much, it made me realise that I knew very little of any of my grandparents, it's so sad that when young we never take in or learn the important things about them.
We just take it that they are there until one day they are not, but it must be nice to have something to hold that was part of who and what they were...Tony (potleek)

I never knew my grandparents on my daddy's side. But did know my grandpa on my mom's side. He was gruff and showed no patience for anyone, only me. I think he felt sympathetic of a child who lost her mommy at 7 (his daughter) Marie she was outgoing and loved people. Then she contacted TB and was never the same again. Sorry to say, I never really knew my mom well, she was always gone to a sanitarium or hospital. The little that I did see her, she was withdrawn and soulful. I still wish my kids could have met her and my daddy too.
