Far above the mist soaked moors

across the baron rocks and trees,

glides a cold, uncaring moon

who watches man pathetic dreams..

In the quiet of the darkest night

as clouds just hurry past,

the spiteful wind sends creatures home

with her howling, icy blast..

As lady winter takes the stage

we all await her threat of snow,

then, from the heavens comes frozen lace

to change the world below

Vivid imagery went across my mind, we had a winter storm last weekend, the worst one since I moved to Meridian, it snowed 10 inches in a few hours and man did the traffic get jammed, scary driving. Thanks for sharing this, it is true, the way mother nature showers upon us her might...great job Vicki, well done.

This is Dartmoor Maria, not far from where I live, we could see it from the bedroom windows in my old house, its really bleak in winter, but because we are a small fishing town in a bay we miss all the dreadful weather.. thank goodness, if I ever got the urge to see snow again I can get to it in a few minuets drive.

Mother Nature can be a cruel old lady, all the poor creatures that die every winter  buried beneath the snow.

Thanks for reading and replying

I do miss the snow of my Edinburgh youth when here in Devon or France, Vicki,
but I don't think I'd like to relive the depth and cold of it as it used to be.

Your excellently descriptive poem really brought those times back and...no thanks,
I too, am now a home bunny
throughout the winter months of cold and wet, Zy x

If I never see snow again its fine by me Zy, but if I ever feel the need (God forbid) I can nip up to Dartmoor for an hour.

Thank you for replying to this one
