Tanya was a beautiful woman, but a discontented one. She constantly wished for more of everything, life, looks, clothes, perfumes, there was nothing she'd ever possessed that she truely enjoyed, without complaint.

Until, that is, her next door neighbour bought a huge mirror and she had hung it in her hallway and when Tanya passed it, like all women she had a quick glance at how she looked and she stopped, gasped and asked "Where did you get this mirror, I must have one the same? Her hostess told her it was a 'one of' as they had found it at a boot sale and the chap said it was from an old and empty house in the country which was about to be demolished.
Tanya thought money could buy anything and told her hostess to name her price, but her hostess said she had no intention of selling it, for no mirror had ever made her look so good.

So she could enjoy that same experience as often as she could, Tanya cultivated a friendship with her new neighbour, she didn't really like her much because she wouldn't sell her mirror to Tanya, but each time she went next door, Tanya made a special effort with her hair, her make-up and her choice of clothing. She would loiter in the hallway, admiring herself whilst the neighbour made her coffee, she had never before been so satisfied with herself and how she looked at the moment.

"I must have you" she whispered, moving up close to the mirror, "I truely want to look this good every moment of my life"
One afternoon, Tanya saw that her neighbours back door was ajar, yet she had seen her leave in her car just half an hour ago.
"This is my chance" she thought ' I shall go over on the pretext of closing that door, but enjoy the beautiful reflection of me without watching for her return" With that Tanya chose one of her loveliest gowns, carefully applied her make-up, choosing a bright red lipstick to enhance her smile for she knew she would be smiling at her reflection, especially, in the privacy of only she and her much coveted mirror.

She slipped out her french windows, excitedly ran across her lawn and through a side gate, she entered her neighbours home. Her heart was beating wildly as she went through the kitchen to the hallway and when she saw it, she threw herself against it, her hands sensually caressing the reflection of herself.

"This is how I really look, you make me so beautiful...I love you, Mirror, do you know that?"
To her surprise, a voice replied "Yes, I do, come, step inside" but, for a moment, Tanya jumped back.
"Where did that voice come from? she demanded, but as she watched, the mirror took on a new appearance...it almost looked liquified and as her hand was drawn towards it, she found she could not resist. First her hand, then her whole body was drawn into the spectre type opaqueness within it's shimmering framework....and the next day, the woman next door spoke to Tanya's husband "When will she be back?" she asked.

She admired that mirror so much, she might as well have it, for since yesterday....

nomatter the image, every reflection looks like it is.. hers.... and only hers.
