We had a post of Site Rules in our previous BBC Poetry Corner, Poets,
with hindsight, it is better to outline a 'certain' desired code of conduct here.

This is a 'POETRY & WRITING' group and functions well within its friendly ambience,
this we know, but it has become necessary to make a couple of requests.

Respect other's beliefs and do not reiterate your own unnecessarily.
This is not a 'religious' group, nor is it an 'anti religious' one.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and paths they wish to follow, so
DO NOT BE 'EMPHATIC' ABOUT YOUR OWN TO AN 'EXCESSIVE' DEGREE
(if that is an impossible request - I suggest you have joined the wrong group)

and last, but most important, do not abuse the edit and delete facilities.
These are tools to assist in corrections and/or desired presentation of work,
not 'manipulate' nor create 'ambiguity' of opinions expressed within reply boxes.
When such actions become evident, the posts will be removed by the management.

This behaviour will also incur a warning and any further need
of intervention will necessitate a request to relinquish membership.

I don't think 'emphatic' and excessive' can be attributed to you, Maria,
but due to the odd complaints from members, it has become necessary
to highlight the need for restraint of excessive and pedantic references.

I would just like to add my full endorsement and support of this, Zy. There is a large divide between discussion and the delivery of dogma which should not be crossed. You have drawn it clearly. Ultimately, the Corner is about poetry ,the development of poetry and the poets who write it.

Poetry is all about what we believe and think.
There is bound to be some crossover.

I take the poetry upon merit, and dismiss it as required smiley7

If you cannot persuade by poetry then har har, threads like this will never mean a thing.

Crossover is obviously likely, Steve, but taking up a permanent position need not be,
and thread like this 'will mean a thing' if the person complained about does not heed it,

BTW, this is not in reference to only poetry, it covered specific reply boxes more,

Members of BBC,
I have ever had a reputation for respectfulness (hence one of my first visits is to learn "the laws of the land").
Learning and teaching, sharing and enjoying the arts that bring poets together at such sites are not only reasons to treat one another with respect, but far too precious to risk with ego driven decisions that empower such flaws to take the opportunities from us all.

I think codes of behaviour is just common sense - sadly a lot of people lose sight of that on sites :-)  goading, deliberately provoking comments.  Welcome Wesley - I hope we will see your poetry soon :-)

Emma, I did not let Wesley in so will be deleting him until I know who he is.

Wesley, I don't know how you became a member of this group without my knowledge nor my clicking 'approve'.
I have only just read your application to join us and will be deleting your membership
until I let you in through the usual doorway.
Please PM me as you have done with your application because you will not be able to add here once deleted, Zydha

Apologies, Zy. I just assumed that you had allowed in a new member, so didn't think anything of it.

When I looked into it, this particular category did not have the usual posting restrictions set up, which is why a non member was able to post. (So, Wesley has not been approved, in other words - just a loophole in the settings)

I have now rectified this.

I hope you don't mind me poking my nose in, just I saw this post early this morning and it didn't feel right.  No idea who this Wesley is and I genuinely hope he is a decent person and just wants to share poetry - but it would be nice to have a proper introduction to him through the usual manner on this site.  Hope he pm's you soon :-)

well Gordon, I guess there will always be loopholes and I don't think there has been any damage, as soon as Wesley can verify who he is, I am sure it will be fine - nothing is ever foolproof, lol

Well, it must have been an oversight from when the site was set up, Gordon, for I have had nothing to do with that particular page of settings.... or... perhaps some Aimoo glitch because of the recent shutdown,  anyways, if it were to have been there from the start, I am certain we'd have had other such surprises.

Wesley's application has now been denied as I have received two unusual PMs and have contacted him for further information before opening the usual front door, if he is a decent type, Emma, he will reapply and understand our concern, Zy

Everything has been cleared up, Wesley found himself in our site instead of his own and thought this was a good way to attract attention to his plight. It seems the two sites crossed somewhere, maybe a glitch from the recent shut down.

The reason he could post without being a sanctioned member has also been cleared up, Zy
