Regard a leaf upon a tree, Choose a time of lushness For it cannot last forever, Yet it may be renewed Again and again, once Each superficial layer Has been devoured By, the corrosion of living.

Re:Decaying Leaf of Life (ancient repost) Date Posted:25-08-2020 03:00Copy HTML Hi Les, I sense nostalgic thoughts in this piece, friendships made, delayed, deleted, repeated. Life and location surely try the sincerity of friendships, and with the best will in the world, it requires a determination to maintain them across both time and distance. I suspect it may have been easier in times gone by, when we didn't travel so far from our roots, to keep in touch with those we knew when young and with whom we matured and shared the highs and lows of life, always being within a stone's throw or a short bus ride from each other. Now the world seem smaller, friendships are a bit harder to maintain. I love "the skeleton of a leaf that has been devoured by the corrosion of living", what a clever, poetic, analogy. Dx Could do with a glass of rosé!

Life is given in layers, renewing with regularity I'm glad you liked that analogy, David, it's one I did have to think over quite a lot, thanks, Les x Opposites exist by virtue of each other
