Date Posted:08-02-2021 08:53Copy HTML CALLOF THE SEA
The call of the sea must have been too great For each incoming tide we would just have to sit and wait Mom was the woman he just had The sailor who never came home, he was my dad
The days and nights that passed away For Mom they would be lonelier than she would say But we looked forward to what would have made us glad The sailor to come home, he was my dad
Came the day his ship called into port Un awares we were caught But the truth of it made us sad The sailor who never came home, that was my dad
But came the time that news reached home That sailor had ceased to roam Everyone just called him a cad The sailor who never came home, he was my dad
All the love that should have been mine was lost On the outgoing tide had been tossed All the things I should have had From the sailor who never came home, that was my dad
I wonder if he can feel My pain that’s so real For the memory that’s so bad For the sailor that never came home, he was my dad

Time is the most precious thing we have, but we are the poorer if we can't spend a little time on a friend

Re:The call of the Sea Date Posted:16-08-2021 10:44Copy HTML I would have said you had changed your style of writing a little, Tony, love it..... Felt a pang with this one as I married a naval officer and had to get used to some of his absences, but at least he came home, really loved this, Zy Opposites exist by virtue of each other

Re:The call of the Sea Date Posted:16-08-2021 08:56Copy HTML Hi Zy it's lovely to see you reading and commenting, although not quite right it's still great to see you about.
I can understand the pain some must go through when a loved one has to go off to work or do duty far from home.
I'm not aware that I changed my style of writing for this, it's just how It came out...Tony (potleek)
p.s. I contacted Debby for you, she did leave a couple of messages on site, hope you get some joy |

Re:The call of the Sea Date Posted:17-08-2021 03:42Copy HTML I like the rhythm in this one, Tony, but havent been reading much of late..so its probably just me... Something has gone wrong, I cant get into Aimoo's problems nor can I see anything from Debbie anywhere, so coupled with the missing work from my collective page .... something is amiss, I cant even open my private messages, Les Opposites exist by virtue of each other

Re:The call of the Sea Date Posted:18-08-2021 02:58Copy HTML Tony, we have tried all the conventional methods and have had no joy at all. Obviously I would not remove my own poetry Debbie (especially as I hadn't copied all to hard drive) But the problem deepens and now we (my husband David and I cannot open a private message box.. I am sad as some of the missing poetry was special and referred to a fire in Ste Maxime, Zy Opposites exist by virtue of each other

I always print off a hard copy of my work. I have lost things forever in the past. |
