Daddy

He was a gentle man
Not unlike men of his day
Hard working, conscientious
Kind, soft spoken,
patience displayed
generous to a fault
Taught me self reliance
A tad bit protective
He loved me in his own way
Never raised his hand to me
He encouraged me to play things by ear
I hated academics,
So I fudged it a lot
Great at self expression
Literature was my cup of tea
Wish he could see me
Write poetry
I idolized him
No one can take that away from him
The man I called "daddy."

I adored my dad, althought he was widowed when I was only 7, he never married, or brought a girlfriend home. That is why I expected so much from my boyfriends, and husband, hard to live up to man like that. He was a sweetheart. Thank you Fae.
