he won't yield

old man winter
refuses to yield
to the awakening
of the new season
spring comes slowly
warming the earth
slipping on winters
long coat tails
the air chills
threatening yet
another snowfall
grey skies and
cold wind blows
thoughts of sunshine
and warmer days
from our thoughts
we long for the
pages of the calendar
to turn more quickly
so we can hang our
winter clothes and don
our shorts and tees
to frolic in the warm
fields of our meadow
